Ah, what could have been. Long before Dax Shepard and wife Kristen Bell were melting hearts with their sweet photos and spot-on parenting advice, Dax was just an actor with a crush on Anna Faris. During Monday's episode of his new podcast, Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Dax and close friend Anna sat down for a conversation about parenting and how they first hit it off back in the early 2000s.
"I saw Just Friends and was like, 'You are so talented,' and you and I sat next to each other during a premiere," Dax recalled, saying that there were a lot of "open-ended questions" in their conversation. "[I thought] 'I would definitely like to take this person on a date.' Then from my point of view, that door was shut. It was like a deadbolt door."
The two laughed it off, but Anna realised what, or who, that "deadbolt door" was. "I think my first husband may have been sitting to the right of me," she explained, referencing her marriage to Ben Indra. "That would explain a lot," Dax said.
Ah, so while some of us were crushing on Ryan Reynolds in Just Friends, it was Anna who blew Dax's mind . . . yes, mouth full of toothpaste and "Forgiveness" song included. As Anna married Chris Pratt in 2009 (later splitting in 2017) and Dax started dating Kristen in 2007, we've got to admit, we're happy Anna and Dax stayed just friends themselves!
