Despite being tipped as a couple that would go the distance, "Love Island"'s Luca Bish and Gemma Owen confirmed they were separating on 16 Nov., posting separate statements on their Instagram stories. Just three months after they made their relationship official, the pair called it quits and their fellow Islanders seem to have been checking in on the former couple.

"Love Island" 2022 winner, Davide Sanclimenti, told the Mail Online, "I had a conversation with Luca after the breakup with Gemma just to make sure he was okay. He was not really okay but he is now and he is getting better and I feel like I told him, 'You had an amazing experience together and had a lovely time but if it's not something that's going to work then Gemma will find someone who is meant for her and you will find someone meant for you so there is no reason to be sad'."

Owen posted on her Instagram story first, writing, "To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now." She coupled up with Bish early in the reality show and they stayed loyal to each other throughout. "Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning, and I want to thank you for your continued support as we start new chapters. Love always, Gem", read the rest of her post.

Bish, who put on a lavish display of roses, candles, and pool floats to ask Owen to officially become his girlfriend (alongside a Cartier bracelet) back in August, added to his own Instagram story a litle later, declaring it has been an "emotional afternoon". "I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways," he wrote.

It was only a week ago that Bish posted a snap of them both looking cosy on Fireworks Night, but some things just aren't meant to be. "We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure. I can't thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island. We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her," he added.

The couple, who lost out to "Love Island" 2022 winners Ekin-su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, are the latest pair to have split from the series. Paige Thorne and Adam Collard parted in October amid allegations that Collard got close to someone else, leaving just three successful "Love Island" couples still together from the latest series. As well as the winners, Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page have even got matching tattoos, while Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope are looking to move in together.

Owen and Bish might have gone their separate ways, but we wish them all the best and can't wait to see what they do next.
