Phoenix was born via surrogate on 16 Jan., according to People. In a February interview with Glamour UK, Hilton explained why she chose surrogacy, revealing that the trauma and abuse she experienced as a student at the Provo Canyon School left her terrified of doctors' appointments. "I'm just so scared. I think, again, leading back to Provo, of even being in a doctor's office, just all of that. The shots, the IVs that they put in," she said. "But I want a family so bad, it's just the physical part of doing it. I'm just so scared . . . childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world."

To preserve their privacy, Phoenix's parents chose to keep the news of his birth completely quiet for the first week of his life. In a February interview with Harper's Bazaar, Hilton shared that she wore a disguise and used a fake name when she checked into the hospital room for her son's birth.

It sounds like having baby Phoenix in her life has been a dream come true for the new mama. "I'm so obsessed with him. My whole heart feels so full," she said during a March appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show." "I feel like my life is so complete now."

Apparently, having her baby has also been healing for her. "Creating my own family and a real life — because I've been kind of having to play this character and living this life for so long," she told ABC News of what's helped her recover from her trauma the most, per People. "And I feel like having a family, having children, is what I've always been meant to do."

Also in March, she told POPSUGAR that she often sings him to sleep, though she doesn't favour traditional lullabies. "His favourite lullaby is 'Stars Are Blind,' which I sing to him almost every single night," she said — referencing the notorious single she released in 2006.
