If you haven't read a book that resonates as much as Dolly Alderton's 2018 coming-of-age memoir "Everything I Know About Love", then you're in luck. The Sunday Times bestseller, which charts Alderton's life from childhood through the drama of her teenage years and as she navigates life and love into adulthood, is about to be brought to life on BBC One in a seven-part series launching on 7 June.

With wit and a lot of insightful humour, Alderton recounts everything from terrible dates and living in filthy flat shares to coping with self-sabotage and the glorious power of female friendship, all with a lot of heart. And now the story unfolds outside of our imagination. Set in a London flat share in 2012, the romantic comedy, which was filmed between London and Manchester, unflinchingly dives into the lives, dates, heartaches, and powerful friendship of the protagonists, Maggie and Birdy.

Adapted by Alderton herself and directed by China Moo-Young, the essence of the plot poses the eternal question: can platonic love survive romantic love as we move from adolescence into adulthood? "It doesn't matter where you are in the world, everyone knows or remembers what it is like to have your heart broken. Everyone knows what it is to lose someone really close to you who you thought you were going to spend your life with. Everyone knows what it is to try and work out what kind of adult you want to be and feel kind of lost in the adult world," Alderton told the BBC.

So what can we all expect from the series? "They will laugh, cry and ring their best friend immediately," Alderton continues. It's not just the plot that already has us sold but also the exciting cast of up-and-coming British stars. Read on to find out everything you need to know about them.
