Kate Middleton Plays Piano at Eurovision Final 2023 | Video

The Princess of Wales Surprises Fans With Her Music Skills at the Eurovision Final

The Princess of Wales shocked Eurovision fans on 13 May as she opened the final by playing the piano in a touching tribute to Ukraine. As the show kicked off in Liverpool, the city hosting on behalf of Ukraine, last year's winners, the Kalush Orchestra, performed their song with a number of cameos, including Kate Middleton who had secretly been filmed playing the piano in Windsor castle last month.

Wearing an asymmetric blue Jenny Packham gown, the Princess could be seen sitting at a grand piano playing for around 10 seconds. Shortly after the Eurovision final opened, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted the short video on their Instagram, with the caption: "A #Eurovision surprise 🎹A pleasure to join @kalush.official in a special performance of last year's winning @eurovision entry. Enjoy the show, Liverpool 🪩" The Eurovision Broadcasting Union has previously banned President Zelensky from addressing the viewers, stating it would breach its political ban. Instead, fans praised the Princess of Wales's tribute. "This Morning" presenter commented: "Well this is incredible" and Shirlie Kemp added: "Wonderful".

The competition is well underway as the UK awaits the fate of its entrant, Mae Muller. The show is being hosted by Alesha Dixon, Ukraine's Julia Sanina, Graham Norton, and Hannah Waddingham, who casually busted out some fluent French during the opening moments. The celebration is expected to be watched by an audience of 160 million. Are we about to find a new ABBA? Let's see. . .
