It's been a series full of ups and downs for the "Love Island" finalists, but on 31 July, Jess Harding and Sammy Root were finally crowned the winners of "Love Island" 2023. After 8 weeks on our screens, host Maya Jama announced the pair had been voted in the top spot by the public and will split the £50,000 prize money. Whitney Abedayo and Lochan Nowacki came in second place, followed by Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde in third place, and Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble in fourth.

It's been a rocky road for all of the couples this season, but for Jess and Sammy in particular, it's been one hell of a journey. The pair clashed at the beginning, with Jess also looking to get to know Mitch as Sammy's head was being turned as new bombshells arrived. During Casa Amor, Jess stayed loyal, but Sammy kissed two girls and ended up coupling up with Amber. When the villas came back together, the two found their way back to each other and were all the stronger for it. Sammy soon made Jess his girlfriend and the pair declared their love for each other. With a number of tests under their belt, surely life on the outside will be smooth sailing?

Although it's not always easy adjusting to their newfound fame. While the Winter "Love Island" winners, Kai and Sanam, are still going strong, last year's champions, Ekin-Su and Davide, recently split a year after leaving the villa as a couple. However, there are a slew of "Love Island" couples that are still together - just take Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury as examples of fairytale romance with their recent engagement and 8-month-old daughter, Bambi.

The summer series has undoubtedly been one for the books. From the return of "Love Island" alumni Kady McDermott to a Casa Amor that will go down in history, as well as a slew of jaw-dropping Maya Jama outfits, it's certainly filled our summer evenings with the kind of entertainment we live for. One thing's left to say . . . Here's to next year!
