Showtime's New Docuseries Explores Bill Cosby's Rise and Fall

The rise and fall of Bill Cosby is being chronicled in Showtime's forthcoming documentary, We Need to Talk About Cosby. The four-part series comes from Emmy winner W. Kamau Bell and explores Cosby's "descent from 'America's Dad' to alleged sexual predator" through candid conversations with comedians, journalists, and Cosby's survivors. "Do not edit this: A lot of people knew," actress Eden Tirl says in the trailer released on Jan. 19. "Because you can't do what he did unless you have other people supporting what you're doing."

Cosby was freed from prison after the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court overturned his sexual assault conviction this past June. He served a little over two years of his three-to-10-year sentence for aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand. "It would be antithetical to, and corrosive of, the integrity and functionality of the criminal justice system that we strive to maintain," the court stated. "For these reasons, Cosby's convictions and judgement of sentence are vacated, and he is discharged."

Following his release, the disgraced comedian released a statement on Twitter. "I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence," he tweeted. "Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law."

We Need to Talk About Cosby will premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival ahead of its Jan. 30 premiere on Showtime.
