Calories in Starbucks Crystal Ball Frappuccino

We Gazed Into the Crystal Ball Frappuccino, and We See a Sugar High in Your Future!

Cancel your fortune tellers and call your nutritionists — we predict Starbucks's new Crystal Ball Frappuccino is going to give you a crazy sugar rush. The new colourful drink debuted at Starbucks on Thursday, and the reviews are a lot more positive than those of the Unicorn Frappuccino, but the nutrition facts that have us thinking twice about ordering a Venti!

Starbucks confirmed that the new magical drink, available through March 26, is made with a crème Frappuccino base that has peach flavour and turquoise sparkles. It's topped with peach-flavoured whipped cream (which is some people's favourite part), and either green, blue, or purple sprinkles each with a different fortune meaning.

According to the company's website, a Grande Crystal Ball Frappuccino made with whole milk is 380 calories and has 55 grams of sugar. (For reference, the American Heart Association recommends women consume 25 grams of sugar daily and men consume 37.5 grams.) A Venti iced colourful Frappuccino with whole milk is 460 calories and has 67 grams of sugar. Of course, if you're watching your calories and sugar intake, there are modifications you can make by holding off on the whipped cream or opting for dairy-free milk instead. For example, a Tall Crystal Ball Frappuccino with almond milk and no whipped cream is 140 calories and contains 29 grams of sugar.

We're all about indulging, especially for a drink that pretty! It's also important to be aware of what we're consuming, especially with such a high level of sugar.
