Popsugar Living Twitter Reactions Garlic Peeling Hack This Garlic Peeling Hack Is So Mind-Blowing, It Made Chrissy Teigen Say, "Whaaaaat?" 18 June 2019 by Karenna Meredith Image Source: Flickr user Kjokkenutstyr.net Almost every entrée worth eating includes garlic, but the peeling process can be a frustrating chore. Luckily, the task I often delegate to my husband has just gotten a bit easier, thanks to a garlic peeling hack shared by Twitter user @VPestilenZ. If I can avoid those sticky (and stinky) fingers, I will, thankyouverymuch. The user shared a video of a speedy technique, which requires a head of garlic and what appears to be a paring knife. The cloves are removed one at a time, by spearing the knife through the centre of each piece and pulling to the side. How have I missed this hack for so long?! Turns out, I'm not alone. The internet went bonkers over @VPestilenZ's mind blowing video, and renowned cookbook author Chrissy Teigen even had something to say about it. "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT," she wrote, retweeting the video. Here's the thing: there are mixed reports as to whether or not this hack actually works. A few Twitter users have tried and failed to replicate the video's results, while others report major success. Apparently, it all comes down to the knife you use at home — the shorter and blunter, the better. Ahead, see the video that started it all, plus a few across-the-board reactions. I got it pretty quickly although not nearly as fast as you are.— Kavi Montanaro (@KaviMontanaro) June 17, 2019 3 / 7 It worked for me! This person is obviously more proficient, but in principle it worked; the garlic just popped out when I stabbed and twisted it. I feel so betrayed for not being taught this before. (Knife on left worked best.) pic.twitter.com/imoKUcLjag— Patrick Alba (@patrickthealba) June 17, 2019 4 / 7 OK. I just tested this. I think it *could* work w/ a little more practice, but there’s a definite learning curve, and I think you at least have to peel the top layer first.(Ignore my grown-out manicure and #BelowDeck in the background. Though both are v on-brand for me, tbh.) pic.twitter.com/CxAHVbd2Ov— Meghan Elizabeth (@BitterMeg) June 17, 2019 5 / 7 . . . But Not For Others Man, I just went through a head of garlic working on my technique and just ended up with a bunch of broken cloves ☹️— Dr. Jen Golbeck (@jengolbeck) June 17, 2019 6 / 7 We have tried it in our office and it DOES NOT WORK— Rebecca Reid (@RebeccaCNReid) June 17, 2019 7 / 7 Twitter ReactionsGarlicHacksFood Hacks
