Orson Scott Card was born in Richland, WA, but grew up in Orem, UT, where he attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Card now lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, which has had a greater influence on his work than his childhood in Utah, particularly his military science fiction novel Ender's Game.
