Following the death of his parents, a boy named Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) goes to live with his Uncle Jonathan (Jack Black). He then meets their neighbour, Mrs. Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett), and learns that she and Jonathan specialise in magical arts. When Lewis accidentally awakens the dead and releases dark forces into world, the trio must come together for an epic fight.
