Carolyn (Lili Taylor), Roger (Ron Livingston), and their daughters seek the help of demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) when their home is occupied by an execrable energy. But the power of the entity might be too strong to overcome as a series of gruesome events continue to take place in the house that has a sketchy history.
