The Best New UK Beauty Product Launches of June 2020

The Best New Beauty Products Launching in the UK in June 2020

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

In recent years, the beauty industry has grown exponentially, with new launches, lines, and collaborations coming at us in rapid succession. Every casual scroll through your Instagram feed presents you with new beauty products being revealed, and let's not even get started with all those targeted ads you never asked to see. So how do you keep track of all of the beauty newness going on? And more specifically, how do you know which items you can buy in the UK (without paying exorbitant shipping fees, that is)? Well, that's where we come in. Every month, we round up the most exciting launches coming to the UK, from classic brands to indie newcomers and all creams, sprays, and conditioners in between.

June 2020 is not like every other month, however. We are into our third month of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, and while restrictions are slowly loosening up around the UK, most of us are still self-isolating at home with our families or flatmates. Top of mind is how to stay healthy and keep our NHS workers safe, how to entertain and educate our kids whilst they're out of school or summer camp, how to keep our bodies active and strong with gyms closed for the foreseeable future, and how to manage our stress and anxiety during these uncertain times. The last thing we're thinking about is what beauty products we can buy.

But for some people, beauty (and, by extension, beauty products) may act as a distraction or a way to maintain some semblance of normalcy (a phenomenon known as the "lipstick effect"). And many brands — in addition to donating products to NHS workers and using their production lines to make hand sanitiser — are continuing to try to roll out new products for anyone who is interested or has the ability to buy. So keep reading to check out the newness — even if it's just to do some virtual window shopping from your living room.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Light

It's been a busy summer for Charlotte Tilbury. She launched the Magic Serum which has quickly become a best-seller in the UK, she debuted a new and inclusive bronzer range, she sold her company to Puig for a whole lot of money, and if that wasn't enough, this month she debuts a new, summer-proof version of her fan favourite Magic Cream, the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Light (£75).

Anyone who's used Tilbury's Magic Cream knows that it's serious stuff. The luxurious moisturiser is a miracle under makeup, leaving your skin looking fresher, plumper, and glowier. But the cream is definitely rich, and not something you might want all over your face when its hot and humid out. That's where Magic Cream Light comes in. The formula contains the same proprietary star ingredient as the original (the brand's Replexium complex) and gives your skin that same just-had-a-facial glow, but it has a much lighter lotion-like texture and the addition of broad spectrum SPF 20 to give you an extra layer of protection under your sunscreen.

Isle of Paradise Hyglo Self-Tan Serum

Developed by celebrity tanning expert (and founder of the brand), Jules Von Hep, the Isle of Paradise Hyglo Self-Tan Serum (£22) is a gradual fake-tan serum that you can easily integrate into your everyday skin-care routine. Like most of the self-tan serums on the market, Hyglo contains hyaluronic acid, but what makes this formula so incredibly moisturising is the fact it also contains avocado, coconut, and chia seed oils that leave your skin glowing and help your faux glow last and last. "I really like it!" says POPSUGAR associate editor Tori Crowther, who has been using it for a couple of weeks. "It's very lightweight, but doesn't feel like it clogs up my pores. It really hydrates, but doesn't irritate my sensitive skin while giving me a tan, and it smells great. It doesn't have a horrid tan smell at all. I also love that it comes in an XL size so can add to body moisturiser, too."

Elemis Pro-Collagen Energising Marine Cleanser

Elemis Pro-Collagen Energising Marine Cleanser (£48) isn't new; in fact, it's one of the brand's classic products. What is new is this 400ml size bottle, which will last you for months and dropped exclusively on QVC UK on 1st June. Fans of the brand were certainly excited about the supersized face wash — 1,900 bottles sold on the first day it launched.

Wishful Clean Genie Cleansing Butter

The third product in Huda Kattan's new skin-care line is the Wishful Clean Genie Cleansing Butter (£31), which is a recreation of the Huda Beauty Makeup Remover Balm that launched last year alongside her Life Liner. The cleansing balm can be used on its own, or before a gel or foaming cleanser for a luxurious double cleanse; either way, it will gently remove all your makeup and wash away any excess oil on your skin. The formula contains cherry blossom extract (helps keeps skin feeling soft), malachite (a crystal that gives the balm its blissful green hue), and green tea extract, the star ingredient that, in addition to keeping skin hydrated and soothed, also helps get rid of the gunk on the surface of your skin.

Sun Bum SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray

If you've never heard of Sun Bum, well, let us introduce you to your new favourite sunscreens. Started in Florida by a group of surfers, the once indie brand specialises in both chemical and physical sunscreens that are vegan, reef-friendly, paraben free, and smell like the beach in a bottle (a warm, sweet blend of coconut and bananas we'd say).

This month, Sun Bum arrives in the via Boots, which now stocks a few of the brand's best-sellers, including its Sunscreen Lotion (in SPF 30 and 50), SPF 30 Sunscreen Face Stick (great for kids), SPF 30 Lip Balm, and the Sun Bum SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray (£18), which also comes in SPF 50.

For June, Sisley Paris introduces three new ways to gently and effectively get rid of your makeup, including a foaming cleanser, a balm cleanser, and the Sisley Triple Eye & Lip Gentle Make-up Remover (£69), shown here. Beauty Bio GloPro Cryo Duo Attachments

You may have seen celebs and professional athletes submerging themselves in cryotherapy tanks on Instagram, or even received a cryotherapy facial yourself at some point. This month, Beauty Bio — the brand that makes the editor-loved GloPro at-home microneedling device — has created metal roller attachments to enjoy a little bit of cryotherapy at home.

The Beauty Bio GloPro Cryo Duo Attachments (£75) kit comes with a two stainless steel rollers — one for the face and a bigger one for the body — that you store in the fridge or freezer. Rolled across your skin, the icy-cold attachments help constrict pores and boost circulation, and even help with releasing muscle tension. Bonus: if you're stuck in a sweltering London flat during the summer, they also provide a great way to cool off.

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum

Inspired by the brands best-selling Banana Bright Eye Crème, the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum (£53) promises both instant and long-term brightening effects. It contains soft yellow pigments that upon application, immediately make your skin look more luminous, while the potent blend of 15 percent vitamin C, 5 percent polyhydroxy acids (PHAs, these break up dead skin cells that would otherwise impede vitamin C from being absorbed), and hyaluronic acid provide long-term benefits by helping to fade bright spots, smooth uneven texture, soften fine lines, and hydrate — all of which contribute to a more radiant-looking complexion.

Syrene Aqua Hydrating Masque

Founded in 2016 in New Zealand, skin-care brand Syrene is inspired by the sea — more specifically, a book the founders read called Gift From the Sea, by Anne Morow Lindbergh, which is a memoir that the author wrote while holidaying by the sea and using seashells she finds at the shore as a way to meditate on different aspects of her life. The line is made up of eight products, the formulas of which are all crafted in New Zealand, dermatologist tested, and hypoallergenic, while the packaging is made plastic waste fished from the ocean.

The product we're most excited about is the
Syrene Aqua Hydrating Masque(£70). Made up of marine algae, seaweed extract, manuka honey, and glycerin, this gel-based sleeping mask that promises intense hydration and plumper, dewier skin come morning. It also feels cool and soothing upon application, which makes it a great way to treat your complexion during the summer without feeling like you're suffocating your skin.

Bioré Rose Quartz + Charcoal Stress Relief Clay Mask

Bioré's newest skin-care range sees charcoal and rose quartz combined in three different products that promise to clean up pores and de-stress skin. In addition to a cleanser and a scrub, there's also the Bioré Rose Quartz + Charcoal Stress Relief Clay Mask (£6), a purifying clay mask that comes in a more eco-friendly pouch — a perfect (and inexpensive) way to treat yourself to a relaxing at-home facial this month.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask

The camellia flower has long been a symbol for the Chanel brand (you can find it decorating everything from necklaces and bags, to shoes and tweed jackets), and this month, the brand utilises its signature floral in a supremely hydrating face mask. The Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask (£52) has a rich, creamy texture that you leave on the skin for 10 minutes before massaging the rest in. The formula contains ingredients extracted from the camellia japonica (the common camellia flower), as well as camellia wax, blue ginger, and panthenol, which all together leave skin feeling softer and silkier — and with a luxurious, otherworldly glow.

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Skin Insurance SPF 50

In 2015, Chapman launched the Skinesis Skin Insurance SPF 30, a broad-spectrum, antioxidant-packed, line-smoothing sunscreen for the face. This summer, at the request of its customers, the brand introduces a second version with a higher factor: Sarah Chapman Skinesis Skin Insurance SPF 50 (£52). The new version is as lovely as the first: it's lightweight, silky rather than sticky, and dries down to a semi-matte finish. While we like the new addition to the Sarah Chapman line, it's disappointing that the slight tint isn't truly universal for those with medium-dark to deep complexions.

QMS Epigen Pollution Defense Day & Night Gel Cream

Just in time for the temperatures to heat up, QMS debuts a new, refreshing gel cream that is superhydrating without leaving your skin feeling slimy or suffocated. The QMS Epigen Pollution Defense Day & Night Gel Cream (£110) contains aloe leaf juice, shea butter, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and an ingredient called thermus thermophillus ferment. What sounds like the name of an ancient Greek city is actually the fermented version of a bacteria (thermus thermophillus) that's found deep in the ocean. In skin care — and specifically, this gel cream — it helps protect the skin from external free radical damage, leaving it firmer, suppler, and more resilient.

Comfort Zone Water Soul Eco-Friendly SPF 50

The Italian brand launched its Water Soul collection in 2018, and this month, they add three new products to the eco-friendly range, including the Comfort Zone Water Soul Eco-Friendly SPF 50 (£23). The broad-spectrum, fragrance-free formula (meaning it protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays), is made up of chemical filters that are less damaging to the aquatic environment, and was developed to be extraordinarily water resistant so that less of it comes off your skin and into the water. On top of that, the bottle is made up of entirely recycled plastic. Good for your skin, good for the water, and good for the environment — we'd call this sun cream a triple threat.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden

Give yourself a beachy glow (minus the beach) with the Victoria Beckham Beauty Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden (£140), a gilded version of the priming moisturiser she launched at the end of 2019. The lotion's gold hue isn't because it contains pigment, though. It's a blend of micronised pearls that are gold, amber, and champagne in colour, mixed into the formula to not only impart a warm glow over your skin, but create an optical illusion and the appearance of smoother-looking skin, says Sarah Creal, co-founder and CEO of Victoria Beckham Beauty. And because it's not actual pigment, that also means it can be used on any skin tone without looking chalky or too yellow.

The Dr. Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint (£19) isn't a new product per say, but the formula, which is now vegan, is new as of this month. (It also comes in a smaller 18ml size that's easier to travel with.)

"I really like the Dr. Hauschka tint because it's a translucent bronzing tint that looks incredibly natural, almost like a fresh tan," says makeup artist Nikki Wolf. "I use this on clients who are prone to redness and sensitivity as it's got lots of nice ingredients in it such as witch hazel, so it feels really soothing. It can be used a few ways, either mixed with your moisturiser, mixed with your foundation, or applied over the top of foundation to create a sheer, bronzed glow."

Ouai Detox Shampoo

Just months after totally revamping her revamping her shampoos and conditioners, hairstylist Jen Atkin introduces a new hair-care product into the range: the Ouai Detox Shampoo (£24).

The clarifying formula features apple cider vinegar, which is a classic deep-cleaning, scalp-soothing ingredient (thanks to its antimicrobial properties) that helps make your scalp and hair both squeaky clean and super shiny. It also contains hydrolysed keratin (to reduce frizz), and chelating agents, which help remove any heavy metals, minerals, and chlorine in hard water that can damage your hair — think of it like a hard-water filter in a bottle. Unlike the rest of the shampoo/conditioner range, the Detox Shampoo features Ouai's Melrose Place scent, which is a little sweet (like berries), a little effervescent (thanks to champagne notes), and a little bit musky (that would be the amber, sandalwood, and white musk).

Bleach London Trim Kit

While nearly every hairstylist we spoke with over the past three months has begged and pleaded people to not cut their own hair during lockdown, we know the reality is that some people will do it anyway. And if you're going to cut hair — whether it's your own, or someone else's — the most important thing is to have a good pair of shears. (As someone who once tried, and failed, to cut her sister's hair with a pair of kitchen scissors, trust me on this one.)

Enter Bleach London, who, since the coronavirus pandemic began, has been busy creating digital content and at-home hair colour kits to help consumers take care of their whilst salons are closed. This month, they are introducing the Bleach London Trim Kit (£25), which features a plastic cutting comb (a.k.a. a rattail comb) and a pair of professional-grade, stainless steel scissors (with an eye-catching holographic finish). And the team over at Bleach doesn't just expect you to grab the scissors and go. Additionally, the company is launching the Bleach Digital Salon Stylist Services, a program that allows you to book live tutorials with the salon's stylists to learn how to trim your hair, whether it's short, long, super curly, or stick straight.
