Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks

Where they met: "Bosom Buddies"

When Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson met on the set of the ABC sitcom "Bosom Buddies" in 1981, he was married to Samantha Lewes, but the two became friends right away, per People. After the pair starred as lovers in the 1985 film "Volunteers," they both knew there was more to their relationship and fell in love. At the time, Hanks was still technically married to Lewes, but they had been separated for a while, prior to Hanks and Wilson dating in 1986. The two married in April 1988, and have two children together, Chester "Chet" Hanks and Truman Hanks.

In 2001, Hanks revealed to Oprah Winfrey the secret to what has made their marriage so solid over the years, saying (via Insider), "In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here. Not that marriage doesn't come close to being hell in a handbasket sometimes. But we both know that no matter what, we'll be with each other — and we'll get through it."
